iWiE Weekly Update - Ticket Sales, Giveaways, and more!

Below you'll find information on giveaways, new events, barn dance ticket sales, and committee applications as well as our usual reminders.
SOCIAL MEDIA GIVEAWAY
Illini Women in Economics has teamed up with the Department of Economics to give a few of our paid members a very special prize (t-shirt, econ swag, other cool stuff)! The rules are simple: subscribe to our emails, like our facebook page, and follow our instagram page (we follow back!). The links to those are at the bottom of this email. Once you finish, comment "done!" on our facebook post about the giveaway. Bonus points for liking our posts and pictures!
BARN DANCE TICKET SALES
Sales times and locations for this week are as follows: Tuesday, Oct 10th 2pm-5pm @ Union Wednesday, Oct 11th 1pm-4pm @ BIF Thursday, Oct 12th 2pm-5pm @ UGL
Specific locations will be posted on our facebook event so click "interested" or "going" to follow for updates! If these times don't work for you, feel free to email or message us or contact any board member and we'll set a time with you.
EVENTS
1) Women in Economics is partnering with the Illinois Leadership Center to host a Teamwork Workshop. The workshop is designed to help students develop skills to become a more effective team member. It is also a great way to learn strategies to work more efficiently and understand errors of unsuccessful teams.

2) Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity on campus, is organizing a campus-wide volunteer opportunity turning used plastic bags into sleep mats for the homeless through a process called plarning. This environmental project will be a craft for humanity, so we hope you consider taking an hour out of your day to partake in a great cause while bonding with the UIUC community. This would be a great way to meet with people from different majors and involved in different things.

COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS
We are accepting applications to join the External Committee. The External Committee focuses on conducting alumna workshops, meetings, and conferences for members. You would also be involved in connecting with recruiters for lasting partnership with iWiE such as recruiter info sessions and case studies. Other roles include contacting other RSOs to collaborate events and reaching out to other UWE chapters for collaborative events. The average weekly commitment is 2-3 hours a week depending on the event schedule.
Applications are due on Sunday, October 15th, at 11:59pm. You MUST pay your dues on time. Special consideration will be given to those who participate in iWiE events. You can submit your application here: https://goo.gl/forms/kRpOGgRAhJbl1pGJ2
DUES
Dues this semester will be $10 if you get them in before October 14th. After October 14th, they are $15. We will be collecting them at all our events this month. It is pertinent that we get dues as early as possible that way we can plan and provide for awesome and exciting events for you guys! Please contact a board member or email us if you have any questions or concerns. You can submit your dues during any of the times we're selling barn dance tickets. If those times don't work for you, please email us or message us on Facebook and we'd be happy to work things out.
